The Hub Internship Scheme 2018-19

Ten months in ministry that could make a difference

The Hub Belfast is a chaplaincy partnership between the Church of Ireland and Methodist Church in Ireland. We work together to serve students, through ministry and mission, across all of the university and college campuses in the city of Belfast.

Each year we're joined by a group of passionate interns with a desire to grow in their faith, discern God’s call on their life, and be released into their next phase of life and ministry.

Could this be your next step?

What should I expect?

Maybe you have little experience, other than volunteering, of ministry in a full-time context. Our internship year can provide a great space for anyone wishing to explore what to do next in life.

Each internship has a focus on a specific area of ministry to help you grow in the things you're passionate about. In the past, the kinds of areas our interns have specialised in have included youth and children's ministry, worship, media and communications, outreach and student community ministry.

QuestionMark

During your year, you'll be committed to three things

1. Serving in Ministry

As part of the Hub internship programme, you'll be energising student ministries which are already established across the city of Belfast as well as helping us to envision and plant new expressions of chaplaincy.

You'll also be bringing your passion and creativity to a staff team that serves a growing church family in the Queen's quarter of the city, planning weekly worship, resourcing bible study groups and discipling kids and young people.

2. Living in Christian Community

You and our other interns will live rent-free for a year in a beautiful Victorian house on Elmwood Avenue in Belfast.

You'll eat together, pray together, study together and share life with one another.

It's our hope each year that this household becomes a real family, built on an intentional, purposeful and life-giving relationship with God and with one another.

3. Personal Development & Growth

Book

We’ll work with you to ensure that time is spent each week in bible study, ministry study and prayer.

As you grow as a disciple, we'll also invest in growing you as a professional – developing and honing skills that are valuable in whatever path you choose to follow after your year with us.

Whether you're graduating this summer or just want to take a year out from your studies, we'd love you to join us here at The Hub Belfast.

The scheme is designed to give you an opportunity to live and work in a full-time ministry context that incorporates a church family, a residential community, a cafe at the heart of a university campus - and at the heart of student ministries across Belfast.
